Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET)

Established in 1993, the Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) began its journey with just 14 cadets enrolled in a Higher National Diploma programme in Marine Engineering. Driven by its core principles—Quality, Commitment, Knowledge, and Excellence—AMET quickly established itself as India's premier maritime institution.

Recognized globally, AMET is proudly the only Indian member of the prestigious International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU).

Strategically located along the scenic East Coast Road in Chennai, overlooking the Bay of Bengal, AMET serves as a beacon of maritime education, offering a comprehensive range of academic programs from Diploma to Doctorate levels.

AMET Business School

The Department of Management Studies (presently AMET B- School) was started in 2001 and launched the unique sector-specific MBA Programme in Shipping & Logistics Management, which is the first of its kind in Asia. The B-School also offers MBA (Shipping Finance),MBA (Marine Human Resource Management) and BBM (Shipping). These Programmes are designed to equip the students with adequate skills and knowledge in the Maritime Management sector - giving them inputs on General Management, Shipping Management and Functional specialization in Marketing, Finance, Human Resources & Information Technology. In tune with the overall standards of the University, our School also has the entire wherewithal in terms of Faculty, infrastructure, library, state-of-art classrooms etc., contributing to the overall enabling atmosphere for learning. The Department enjoys almost 100% placements year after year.

The B- school also offers Ph.D in all the above domains.

I am happy to note that the AMET Business School is bringing out a Professional Journal, catering to Research in Maritime and General Management

A Professional Journal is a good instrument for propagation of research and for developing analytical skills.While it encourages upcoming research scholars to try out their abilities in presentation of the research findings, it gives all of us an opportunity to read the treatises of veteran scholars.

I find that contributions are being sourced from diverse verticals of Management. The conceptual base of the articles, the hypotheses as well as the statistical tools employed for interpretations of data have all shown high degree of application of mind and diligence in approach.

The Journal has broad based Editorial Board with International and National Experts and has secured International status for the Journal from the concerned authorities.
